PLAN YOUR TRIP AT STOWE
Home of the legendary ‘Front Four’ Stowe will challenge and exhilarate even the most seasoned veteran. When there is a sign that says ‘Experts Only’ you had better be or you’ll be looking back up the trail thinking, ‘What did I do?? Another feature of Stowe is it’s endless Glades. Lots and lots of trees!
But for those of you who just want to cruise and enjoy the fresh mountain air you will not be disappointed. Some trails are 3 miles plus and allow you to link turns and feel that carve. Novice skiers and riders of course can also enjoy their time at Stowe, with plenty of gentle slopes to send you on your way. One of the beautiful things at Stowe is the scenery, which one will not be able to get enough of on the 2 big mountains. Mt Mansfield (VT’s highest peak) and Spruce Peak, average 300′ of snow a year making conditions outstanding. The 8-person gondola will send you to the top in no time giving you lots of vertical all day long, and the Over Easy Gondola takes you from Mt. Mansfield to Spruce peak in style.
Stowe is one of the most traditionally photographed areas in Vermont and the Northeast. It’s classic village with over 90 shops & 50 restaurants, Stowe typifies Vermont. For apres-ski your best bet will be the Matterhorn. Live music and a lively atmosphere make the Matterhorn the place to swap stories of your day (all ages are welcome). For dinner there is really no place to go that will steer you wrong. But two standouts are Piecasso Pizzeria & Lounge & Doc Ponds. Piecasso is a casual place with great food and atmosphere. The Bench has an outstanding beer assortment that we at Banchi dream about and has been awarded “Best Casual Resturant with Beer List” by the local 4393 Awards. After dinner three hotspot places to enjoy the evening. You can head back to the Matterhorn, which has the live entertainment & dancing. You can also find music, dancing and pool at the Rusty Nail.
